Design Costume for the Street Voices

I have done extensive amount of research on the type of people that generally live in East London and to have a visual understanding, I have gone through several images to give myself an idea of a character that I will be designing to represent street voices in 'Face the play'. However, when researching I found it difficult to pin point an occurring style. Each and every person had a different style which made each individual different from one another (avoid sameness) and creates diversity and uniqueness. The author wanted to specifically spotlight the street voices to bring extra attention when watching the play. My design looks on a rather extreme and unusual character, however still a character design which can be frequently seen in the streets of East London. About the Author Benjamin Zephaniah is the author and playwright of 'Face The Play'. He is a very influential and significant figure in the literary world of contemporary Britain. 1) Upload an image of the author.  2) Find out 3 facts about him.  Benjamin Zephaniah is a British poet and writer. In 2008, he was voted one of Britain’s top 50 in a poll by the Times newspaper.  Benjamin Zephaniah was born in Birmingham in April, 1958. He was dyslexic, and left school at 13, since he was unable read or write. His poetry is influenced by the street culture of Jamaica. His first performance was at the age of 10, and by the age of 15, he was quite well known in Birmingham. Benjamin Zephaniah moved to London when he was 22.  He was described as Britain’s most recognizable poet.  His poems were usually about homelessness or unemployment. 3) Zephaniah is noted for his poetry as well as novels, music and plays.
